I have wanted a multi pen of a good quality for a long time. I had seen Lamy multi pens in the past, but other than the Logo (which this review is covering) and the Lamy 2000 4-colour multi pen, none of them grabbed me.
I don't like pen/pencil multipens, and I don't like multipens with a button in the side to retract the ink (usually with a loud, hard click).
I didn't buy a Lamy 2000 because I personally don't give a rats about a green ink in a pen ( I prefer only red black and blue) and the logo looks more interesting. However, in retrospect, for my big hands, I might prefer writing for long periods of time with the 2000.
To the Point:
The Inks: I am fairly sure that the three Lamy M21 miniature ball point refills are 0.5 mm, they are definitely less than a .7mm, but not as scratchy as other Lamy 0.5mm refills I have in my other pens. They lay down the ink very smoothly and boldly (each colour even as the next)
The Switch: The pen has 3 coloured marks (unnoticeable to the layman) upon the click mechanism. When the colour is rotated upwards, a light click of a ball bearing moving with gravity is heard, and by clicking the end, the chosen colour comes out the end. A very funky and fun way to change inks. It took me all of two minutes to be able to select the colour I wanted automatically, without looking at the pen.
The Clip: Very important with me, (even though I rarely wear pens in my breast pockets (or wear breast pockets for that matter)) This clip is spring loaded, and (this i really like) has a little ball bearing embedded in the end of the clip, to help it roll against fabric passed under it. However, the spring mechanism doesn't allow the clip to reach far from the pen barrel, about 2-3mm at max, but as far as shirts go, you'd be hard done by to have a shirt with thicker material than that (unless your wearing a jumper or something).
The Barrel: The Barrel is matte black metal (A shiny chrome is available, but i find that chrome pens get dirty quicker, and oils and dead skin stick to them more) with some grooves at the end.The tip of the pen is a tough black plastic tip, that screws into the barrel with plastic on metal threads. Despite being made of plastic, these threads in no way feel cheap/inferior.
My only qualm is that the barrel is a little slim for my hands, but i find this with most lamy pens (and i still like them and buy many:D) so this is more a problem with me and not the item.
Dislikes: The only thing i don't really like about this pen is that the click mechanism shows a little of the workings of it, i.e a few small pieces of plastic at the top show how the click button is held into the barrel. Not unsightly, but i would prefer it if i couldn't see it (and i don't think the lamy 2000 4-colour multi pen has this problem).
