The Parker Jotter is one of the flagship pens that Parker produces.
The design of the stainless barrel is very interesting. The stainless threads are stamped into the metal, instead of being milled or tapped. The threads inside of the cap are plastic, which to some degree, contradicts the stainless threads on the barrel. The plunger action is very firm, with a strong spring. The pen is quite light, which could be both an advantage as well as a disadvantage. This pen is not suited for long term writing.
Here are some Pro's:
1. The brushed stainless finnish is bulletproof. Scratches do not show up easily.
2. Good, consistent plunger action.
3. Barrel spring is captive
4. Quite compact and slimlined
Here are some Con's:
1. Barrel is very slim towards the tip. Gives you that metal toothpick feel. For some reason, on the plastic barrel model, the tip is a bit thicker, and tapers sharply toward the very tip, while on the stainless barrel (because it is extruded I assume), the taper runs almost the entire length of the barrel.
2. The clip is not the world's strongest. It is also bends easily.
3. Refil click. The extruded barrel is not very tight around the refil. It makes this annoying "click" every time the point comes in contact with paper. (this is resolved with the synthetic barrel, as it has a steel tip that is tighter)
Over all, this is a nice pen. For it's price, its acceptable, but could be improved. At the time I purchased the pen, the price was around $20. The price has currently dropped to around $9.
